Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Pelvic floor dysfunction refers to a wide range of issues that occur when muscles of the pelvic floor are weak, tight, or there is an impairment of the sacroiliac joint, lower back, coccyx, or hip joints.

Dysfunction may lead to urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, or pain.

Physical Therapists specialize in the evaluation and treatment of the nervous, muscle, and skeletal systems that can be beneficial in restoring function to the muscles of the pelvic floor and surrounding structures.

Studies show that 78% of women with stress urinary incontinence can improve their symptoms through pelvic floor physical therapy.
